Cats 10 years+ who have all their teeth and no signs of resorptive lesions
The Genetics Service is looking for genetic mutations associated with the tooth resorption condition in cats and use this information to develop a genetic test for the condition.
If your cat is 10 years or older, has all of its teeth, and no sign of resorptive lesions, it may qualify to have a free dental cleaning and full mouth radiographs to confirm. If healthy, we would collect a small blood sample while your cat is under anesthesia.

Labradors Needed For Late Onset Laryngeal Paralysis Genome-Wide Association Study
The Genetics Service is looking for two groups of dogs:
- PUREBRED Labrador Retrievers 12.5 years old or older with no history of laryngeal paralysis.
- Any breed of dog 8 years old or older that are affected with late onset laryngeal paralysis.
Potential study participants include those being evaluated at UW Veterinary care, live in the local area, or could travel to the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine. Medical history and a DNA sample will be collected.
Having pedigree information is appreciated as study dogs should NOT be closely related to other study dogs. Enrolled dogs will receive a free clinical examination through the Genetics Service at UW Veterinary Care, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Expansion to other breeds is expected in the future.
This study is looking at genetic predisposition to late onset laryngeal paralysis in Labrador Retrievers using genomic sequencing. This study is supported by the NIH.

Irish Wolfhounds Needed For Osteosarcoma Genome-Wide Association Study
The Genetics Service is looking for two groups of dogs:
- PUREBRED Irish Wolfhounds 10 years old or older with no history of osteosarcoma.
- PUREBRED Irish Wolfhounds 5 years or younger that are diagnosed with osteosarcoma.
Potential study participants include those being evaluated at UW Veterinary care, live in the local area, or could otherwise travel to the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine. Medical history and a DNA sample will be collected.
Having pedigree information is appreciated as study dogs should NOT be closely related to other study dogs. Enrolled dogs will receive a free clinical examination. For more information and brochures, please visit our website.
The purpose of this study is to identify a genetic mutation associated with osteosarcoma in dogs and use this information to develop a means to predict risk.

German Shepherd Dogs Needed For Fibrotic Myopathy Genome-Wide Association Study
The Genetics Service is looking for two groups of dogs:
1. PUREBRED German Shepherds (9 years or older) with no history of Fibrotic Myopathy.
2. PUREBRED German Shepherds at age that are affected with Fibrotic Myopathy.
Potential study participants include those being evaluated at UW Veterinary care, live in the local area, or could otherwise travel to the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine. Medical history and a DNA sample will be collected.
