SCHEDULE A SPECIAL SPECIES APPOINTMENT:
608-263-7600
Regular clinic hours are Monday through Friday, and our scheduling staff will assist you in finding an appointment with the right veterinary specialist based on your animal's needs at a time that works for you. Our emergency services for all species are also available 24/7 if your animal has a serious problem that requires immediate medical attention.
The University of Wisconsin Veterinary Care Zoological Medicine & Special Species Health Services have faculty and staff with expertise in the medical and surgical management of a wide variety of species. Our patients include exotic pets, animals in zoo collections and wildlife species.
We are proud to have Wisconsin’s only board-certified zoological medicine specialists.
Some species can only be seen by our service if the client can show proof of a captive wild animal permit from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. These include native Wisconsin wildlife species, such as skunks, foxes, squirrels, lynx, etc.
Those species, which our service will not see include privately-owned primates, raccoons, and venomous reptile species.
