UW Veterinary Care is pleased to offer small animal outpatient ultrasounds for referring clinics. Veterinarians who request imaging will receive a phone call upon completion of studies, and a finalized report will be sent directly to the referring clinic the day of the study.
The service is offered Monday through Friday. For appointments call 608-263-7600, Monday through Friday, between 8 am and 5 pm.
Appointment Considerations
Unless medically contraindicated, please remind your client to withhold food for 8 hours and water for two hours prior to the scheduled ultrasound appointment. Please be sure to inform clients that their pets will be shaved for the procedure and that sedation and fine needle aspiration may be performed.
We will reiterate potential risks to clients and have them to sign a consent form on arrival.
Please indicate whether or not fine needle aspirates should be attempted if significant abnormalities are identified. Coagulation testing for fine need aspirates and core biopsies be conducted through the referring clinic (with results sent along with the client or faxed to us), or we can draw and submit this test through our clinical pathology laboratory.
Patients who require emergency attention at any time during their visit will be seen by our ER service. If this happens, one of our ER doctors will follow up with you as soon as possible.
We are not yet offering echocardiography or CT, MRI as part of this outpatient service. Sedated CT may be possible. Please contact us for additional information.
