Now more than ever, it’s important to be there for each other – and our team is here for you. Whenever a case gets complicated, or you need care options beyond the expected, our specialists can help make a difference for your clients. We’ll always be a partner and a resource for you.
Veterinarians throughout our community and beyond are a vital part of our expert care team. UW Veterinary Care is proud to work with these doctors to develop the best possible care options and treatments for patients.
The staff at UWVC is dedicated to creating a seamless referral experience in which open communication is the key to great care. To make a referral to all services within our Small Animal or Large Animal Hospitals, you can call us anytime at 608-263-7600 or 800-386-8684.
ER Status and Hospitalization capacity change frequently. Due to staffing shortages and space constraints, especially overnight, it is likely that ER may be closed or we may be accepting fewer cases. We highly recommend calling ahead to verify availability.
Referrals to the Small Animal Hospital
You may also call our SA Referral Coordinator with information about a referral that you would like to make. If a conversation is needed with one of our clinicians before the final decision to make the referral, we will page the appropriate service to connect with you or leave a message for a return call as soon as practical.
Referrals to the Large Animal Hospital
You may call 608-263-7600 Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm, to reach the Large Animal Reception Desk staff. If you want to make a patient referral or have questions, the receptionist will forward your call to the clinician on the medicine, surgery, or theriogenology service as appropriate. After 5:00 pm and all during the weekends, the emergency service calls to the Large Animal Hospital are forwarded to an answering service. This service will immediately contact the clinician on emergency call duty, and you will receive a call back shortly thereafter.
Client Medical Records
So that we may deliver the best possible care to the patient you are referring, please provide us with the relevant medical history and lab results. You may send this information with your client for their appointment at UW Veterinary Care, or you may fax it to 608-265-8276 or email email@example.com your records prior to the appointment.
