Patients undergoing chemotherapy for cancerous processes can develop very low white blood cell counts, which may predispose to a bacterial infection in the blood stream. Our study aims to learn how frequently these infections occur, and what the most common bacteria causing the infections are. Patients must have a very low white cell count (<2,000/ul) and be receiving chemotherapy through the UWVC oncology service. Animals eligible for entry into the study will have blood and urine bacterial cultures performed at no cost to the client.
